Westland Horticulture currently employ over 350 people and produce a wide range of leading edge gardening products to all major retailers and garden centres in the UK and Ireland. The core goods and services supplied to the horticulture market include a wide range of high-performance growing media/composts, fertilisers and weed killers, as well as planting seeds and bulbs. The company wish to recruit an Industrial Engineer/Management Services Engineer to help drive operational and process efficiency improvements at all levels in our production operation based at Alconbury in Cambridgeshire.

Management Services Engineer

Reporting to the Head of Production the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing cost effective methods of working across all production processes on site, ensuring that Westland Horticulture achieve world class standards on an ongoing basis in terms of operational efficiency and service level.

The key focus of this key job will be on:

1. Productivity improvement
2. Process improvement
3. Production efficiency improvement
4. Waste and space management
5. Cost reduction
6. Administrative and Reporting improvement

The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing current work activities, production efficiencies, waste streams and design and implement improved methods of working. They will introduce best Standard Operating Procedures, measurement and reporting systems along with effective KPI's that support continuous improvements in operational performance and profitability. This will be achieved while maintaining and improving Westland's high quality standards.

The successful person will possess a relevant third level qualification along with a comprehensive range of modern Industrial engineering tools and techniques and must have the ability to drive and implement change within a high volume and high quality manufacturing environment.
A working knowledge of Six Sigma SMED, OEE, and Statistical techniques would also be an advantage.
